The new venue for Monaghan karate club is now Beech hill sports hall, the club had previously been in St Macartans
hall in park st for the past eleven years, it was decided to expand the club and to bring it up to-date a move was crucial.
The new venue has state of the art facilities with changing rooms and showers, classes can also be viewed from the balcony
and is opened for parents to watch while they wait.
The Monaghan Karate Club was founded over 12 years ago and is the longest running martial arts club in Co Monaghan. The
primary aim of the club is to provide a safe environment in which people can learn traditional karate in a structured and
progressive fashion.
The club is affiliated to the Karate Union of Ireland (KUI) The International Ryukyu karate research society (IRKRS) and
the Official National Amateur Karate Association of Ireland (ONAKAI), but also has close ties with many other karate groups
both nationally and internationally. This gives our members the opportunity to train with a wide variety of world renowned
instructors.
The club has three senior instructors that being Fergal McKenna, Seamus Brady and Kieran Friel all with a bundle
of experience between them having competed in many international events world wide representing there country, they are also
properly trained in teaching children with the Irish sports council and completed courses in child protection. David O’Rourke
